The t +20 Project - Early estimation of economic indicators - German Federal Statistical Office Likely publishing date: 2026-04-08 PublicationThet+20 Project - Early estimation of economic indicators Thet+20 project implemented by the Federal Statistical Office investigated methods to speed up the provision of economic indicators for the manufacturing sector. Using microdata-based models, including imputation methods and machine learning, and a macrodata-based dynamic factor model, the project’s aim was to produce precise and reliable estimates as early as 15 to 20 days after the end of the preceding month. The analysis shows that these methods enable the early and reliable assessment of economic developments and therefore offer a valuable basis for policy and business decisions.
